September - Club Success

Liam Jordan was at Meriden in Warwickshire for the junior Archery Series final against archers from across England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales. Jordan ranked sixth in the qualification round but after the head-to-head matches got through to the bronze medal match and ended up fourth overall. A swift return north saw Jordan in Leeds at the Bowmen of Adel event, where he shot a long western round of 80/60 yards, taking second place.

Bank Holiday Weekend

Three ladies passed the archery beginner's course at the weekend. I don't think there has been a happier trio on the shooting line - their good humour and giggles have endeared them to us all. They are grandma, daughter and grand daughter - I'll let you decide which is which!Pictured here with their certificates are Jessica Taylor, Clare Baker & Jane Baker.

Shooting for England

On Saturday July 27th, Liam Jordan travelled to Lilleshall for the Junior Archery Youth Festival. Shooting a distance of 70 metres. Liam ranked 11th in the qualification round; shooting in the head-to-head Liam managed to win all his matches taking him through to the gold medal match against Joshua Phillips. The 1st set was 2-0 to Joshua, Liam managed to gain the points back making it 2-2 in the 2nd set, 3rd set 4-2 to Joshua 4th they drew 5-3 the final set went to Liam making it 5-5.

Bill Spencer - Open Western Shoot

A sizable team of archers from the club travelled to Knaresborough, North Yorkshire on the 23rd. of June, to take part in the Bill Spencer Open Western Competition. It was a hot day weather-wise - and on the scoresheets too, with a good haul of medals and trophies for the group, as you can see from the photograph!

Tom & Ellie Tie The Knot!

Readers of this blog will have read that Tom Hesp Welsh & Ellie Goodband were promised to each other way back when they joined Bridlington Bay Archers. On June 15th they married in York, with a reception at the Pavilion Hotel. Here is the story in their own words...

Junior National Archery Series - Scotland

Bridlington Bay archer, Liam Jordan, took part in stage three of the Junior National Archery Series held in Ayr, Scotland. The event was a World Record Status WA720 and Head-to-Head. Competitors had warm weather for the day, a nice break from the recent wind and rain.

Last Clout of the Year - May 2024

A very wet Sunday 26th of May, saw the last WA double clout of the year take place at the Hutton Cranswick Sports and Recreation Association archery range at Hutton, near Driffield. Clubs from around the Yorkshire area fielded teams to the event. 5 members of Bridlington Bay Archers competed and happily each of them won a medal.

Selby Open Westerns - 2024

Members of Bridlington Bay Archers club travelled to Selby in North Yorkshire at the weekend, to take part in the 46th annual Selby Open Westerns tournament. They had quite a successful day!

Archery GB Junior Archery Series - Stage 1

Bridlington Bay Archer, Liam Jordan traveled down to Lilleshaw in Shropshire to compete in stage 1 of the Archery GB Junior series men's under 21. The Junior Archery Series is part of a five-stage national youth competition that runs between 5 May to 31 August 2024.

BB Archers Demonstrate

Club members took an afternoon out at Buckton in East Yorkshire yesterday to demonstrate and teach archery to a large group of youngsters from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The weather could have been warmer but at least they were spared rain, which had threatened most of the day.  The event concluded with a friendly competition between the teams and even though they were shooting against a hawthorn hedgerow the few arrows which escaped the field were later rescued!
